Cres is a native son, born and raised in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He received his early education in New Mexico schools and earned
a Bachelors Degree from Park College at Parkville, Missouri and his Master’s Degree from Webster University at St. Louis, Missouri.
He served his Country with distinction in the United States Air Force for 39 years retiring in the grade of Colonel.  His principal expertise was with the Air Force Inspector General as a joint service inspection team chief with responsibility for world wide assessment of the nuclear arsenal to insure its safety, security and reliability. After retiring from the Air Force he was appointed by the New Mexico Governor to serve as Chairman of the New Mexico adult parole board a position he held for 3 years. Since then he has devoted his talents and energy to service with the Order of Elks.

Cres was initiated into the Order of Elks at Leavenworth, Kansas Lodge 661 and upon retirement from military service transferred to Belen Lodge 2499 and became an active and dedicated member where he Chaired many committees and became the Exalted

Ruler in 1991. Subsequently, he was Chairman of the State Scholarship and Youth Activities Committees when New Mexico saw the genesis of its Soccer Shootout and Junior PGA Golf Tournaments. He also chaired the District Membership Committee when New Mexico had a significant gain in membership after years of decline. He has been a ritual judge, a member of the cadre for the Elks Leadership Training Seminar

He served as District Deputy for the Northwest District of New Mexico and as the Special Deputy for New Mexico for 5 years. He was Chairman of the Trustees appointed by the Grand Exalted Ruler for a defunct lodge in New Mexico and is currently serving as a Special Representative of the Grand Exalted Ruler, a position he has held on previous occasions.

Cres is known for his staunch patriotism and his dedication to excellence and professionalism. He has the support and love of his wife Betty, who together have raised five children who have blessed them with 8 grandchildren.  Betty passed away May 21, 2008, may our prayers be with the family.
