Are You Ready for Some

Hoop Shoot?

Do you know any young basketball players? Send them the Elks’ way! Local Hoop Shoot contests are going on at Lodges nationwide. Visit www.elks.org/hoopshoot for more information or check with your Lodge for details.

ENF Kicks off

Scholarship Season

Do you know an outstanding high school senior who is planning to attend college next year? Perhaps a child or grandchild? Both the Most Valuable Student and ENF Legacy Awards scholarship contests are under way. Visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars for an application and more information about both contests.

Welcome, Kristen!

We recently welcomed Kristen Scaletta to the ENF team. Kristen attended Northwestern University and worked as an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law before joining the ENF. Kristen will be our Programs Associate responsible for building relationships with program recipients and alumni. You can contact Kristen by email at KristenS@elks.org.

Bon Voyage, Meghan!

As we welcome Kristen, we also say goodbye to Development Manager Meghan Morgan. Meghan has been an integral part of the ENF team for almost 8 years, and we are very sad to see her go. She will continue her philanthropic work as Director of Development at Girls in the Game, a local non-profit organization. Her last day with the ENF is September 12. We wish her all the best in the future!

Make Every Year Special

At the ENF, we think our donors are the best people around. We try to express our gratitude for your generosity as often as we can, but really no words or gifts can measure up to your support. Nonetheless, we want to try!

In recent years, the Foundation started our annual recognition program, the Foundation Fellowship. We want to specially thank our donors who support the ENF consistently year after year.

The Foundation Fellowship recognizes six levels of giving within a fiscal year, ranging from $100 to $5,000. It’s a great way to keep track of your giving from year to year. You can see what level you reach this year, and try to reach an even higher level the following year!

We started this annual recognition program because we want to thank you, our donors, in as many ways as we can. We appreciate your donations at any level. Our cumulative recognition program continues to acknowledge your lifetime donations.

To learn more about the Foundation Fellowship and the benefits offered, visit www.elks.org/enf/annualrecognition.cfm.

“I’m Going to Disneyland!”

After landing the coveted first-place $60,000 awards, the 2008 Most Valuable Student top winners—Megan Spencer of Lodi, Calif., and Donovan Barfield of Vidor, Texas—got to go to Disneyland. That’s right, they attended the Grand Lodge Convention in Anaheim in July to express their gratitude to all the Elks who make their scholarships possible. To view their speeches and see the ENF tribute to the class of 2008 MVS recipients, visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars/.

Personal Note

Double Your Impact

 Dear Billy:

Did you know that there’s a way you can double your gift to the ENF? If you’re working or retired, ask your employer about a matching gift program. Many companies match your charitable contribution. And who gets credit for the gifts? You do! The ENF credits you and your Lodge

for both the initial gift and the matching gift! To learn more, visit www.elks.org/enf/MatchingGifts.cfm.

Are you a Federal employee? If so, participate in the Combined Federal Campaign—a workplace giving program making it easy for you to support the Elks National Foundation! Through December 15, you can enroll at your workplace to designate any amount of your paycheck as a charitable gift to the ENF. The CFC takes care of the rest! For more information, talk to your HR department or contact Erin Rohan at ErinR@elks.org.
