For Immediate Release Elks Reach Milestone of $3 Billion in Charitable Giving Since its founding in New York City 132 years ago, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, a charitable and fraternal organization, has led the way in donating resources and countless volunteer hours to improve communities across the country. And today, Elks National President Dwayne Rumney announced that the Order of Elks reached a milestone of which it is very proud--the donation of $3 billion in cash, goods, and services since 1868. "The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has helped so many people, and helping others has always been one of our top priorities," explains Rumney, who as national president of the Order, is traveling the country this year to promote the programs of the BPOE. "Our motto is 'Elks Care--Elks Share', and the $3 billion that we've given to so many causes truly demonstrates that we do just that. Through the years, we've done a lot of good work with very little fanfare and without looking for any thanks. We give because charity is one of our guiding principles. Elks across the country reach out to their communities every day, and doing so warms our hearts. Our Order is truly proud of the difference that it's made and will continue to make in our nation." The BPOE, comprised of nearly 1.2 million men and women in almost 2,200 communities, is committed to helping the nation's youth, its veterans, the disadvantaged and handicapped, and supporting patriotic and civic programs.
