This project was the Reading is First program at Armijo Elementary
School in Las Vegas. My wife is the elementary librarian for all 5
elementary under West Las Vegas Schools. She asked the 2 of us to
represent the Elks and she also had the NMHU president, WLVS
Superintendent, some city councilors, and others. It was a very good
event. We read to the kids on February 7th and 8th.

This year Albuquerque Elks Lodge 461 donated 650
dictionaries to 5 different schools. These schools were Alamosa, Los Padillas,
Navajo, Atrisco, and Pajarito. The faculty and staff of each school greatly
appreciated our donations. Those who assisted this year are Jimmy Barros -
Trustee, Darrell Johnson - ER, John Hilliard, PER - Trustee, and Richard
Deforest - Leading Knight. I would like to thank the faculty and staff of all
the schools, the members of Albuquerque Lodge, and especially to the members who
donated their time for this wonderful program.
