John was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on June 18, 1951. He grew up in south Louisiana, graduating from Opelousas High School in 1970. John joined the US Air Force in October 1970 and served for 7 years. During that time, he had the opportunity to serve overseas in Turkey and Greece. After the military, John spent a number of years in the Louisiana oilfield. He worked on offshore drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1986 John and his family moved to Albuquerque. He attended and graduated from Albuquerque TVI in Electronics. He worked in the electronic field at Kirtland AFB for ten years. John has been working in the accounting field since 1997 and is currently Full Charge Bookkeeper for Westside Plumbing in Bernalillo, NM. John was initiated into Albuquerque Lodge #461 in January 1987. He started through the chairs in 1988 as Inner Guard and was installed as Exalted Ruler in 1992. John has been married to Vicki (Fitzpatrick) for 39 years. They have 3 children, Greg who is in the Navy, stationed in San Diego. Cheryl who lives in Louisiana and Johnny who is a Past Exalted Ruler from Albuquerque Elks Lodge # 461. John and Vicki have 3 grandchildren. Granddaughter Marina who is 18 years old and lives in Virginia Beach, Va., a grandson Riley, 9 also from Virginia Beach, Va. and granddaughter, Samantha, 8 who now lives in Louisiana.
Roger was born in Ada, Oklahoma on February 21, 1954. He grew up in southern Oklahoma and graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1971. He continued his education earning an Associate of Science in Biology from Murray State College in 1973 and a Bachelor of Science in Fish and Wildlife Biology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1975. Hamman started his career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife as a seasonal employee at the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery in 1975. He became a permanent full-time Biological Aid in 1977 and later that year was promoted to a Fishery Biologist. In 1978, he transferred to Willow Beach (Arizona) National Fish Hatchery, where he became involved in endangered fish culture. He was selected to attend the Fisheries Academy “Fish Hatchery Managers” course in Leetown, West Virginia in September, 1981 and returned to Willow Beach in May, 1982 after nine months. He transferred to Dexter National Fish Hatchery in November, 1982 and in September, 1986 became the Assistant Hatchery Manager. He was present for the transformation to the Dexter National Fish Hatchery and Technology Center in 1991 and became the Assistant Center Director. He has published 20 scientific papers dealing with the spawning and culture of several endangered fishes and considers his most memorable accomplishment, while working for the Fish and Wildlife Service, as saving the bonytail chub from extinction. After 33 years of service with the federal government, he retired on February 28, 2009. Roger was initiated into the Elks at the Roswell Lodge #969 in July, 1983. He was appointed Inner Guard in 1984-85, which began his progression through the chairs, and served as Exalted Ruler in 1989-90. He served a 5-year term as Lodge Trustee from 1991-96 and President of the PER Association in 1998-99. He has served as Chairman of several Lodge Committees including: Youth Activities, Public Relations, Memorial Services, Veterans Service, Elks National Foundation and Charitable & Benevolent Trust. He has served the New Mexico Elks Association as SE District Membership Chairman (1990-91), State Public Relation Chairman (1991-95), SE District Committee on Grand Lodge (1996-97), SE District Charitable and Benevolent Trust Chairman (1996-97), SE District Veterans Service Chairman (1996-98), State Elks National Foundation Chairman (1998-2009) and SE District Laws Chairman (2004-2010). He was honored as NMEA “Elk of the Year” (1991-92); served as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, New Mexico-Southeast (1995-96); elected and served a 5-year term as NMEA State Trustee (2000-05); appointed NMEA State Tiler (2005-06); elected and served as NMEA Vice President (2010-11); and, elected as NMEA President Elect in 2011-12. He is a Life Benevolent Member ($5,000 Donor) of the New Mexico Elks Charitable and Benevolent Trust, and a Permanent Benefactor of the Elks National Foundation. Hamman is a life member of the North American Hunting Club, North American Fishing Club, Handyman Club of America, Murray State College Alumni Association and Southeastern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees, National Rifle Association and Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. His hobbies are hunting, fishing and photography. Roger is supported by his loving wife Regina (Gina). They have two sons, Cullen and Garrett, and daughter-in-law Stephanie who is married to Cullen. Gina is the Music Instructor at Dexter Elementary School, Cullen is the Manager of a Sports Apparel Store in Albuquerque and Garrett is a Deputy with the Chaves County Sheriff’s Department in Roswell.
Rohnnie was born and raised in Comanche, Texas where he graduated from Comanche High School in 1964. Upon graduating from high school he moved to Fort Worth and stated working. In 1965, he decided to attend North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He received a B.S. in Physical Education and a Master of Education in Secondary Education. He taught school in the Irving, Texas School District and Silverton, Texas School District. He moved to Amarillo, Texas and worked for Levi Strauss and Co. until he moved to Los Alamos, NM in March 1981. Rohnnie joined the Los Alamos Elks Lodge #2083 in March 1983 and became Inner Guard in January 1985 and proceeded through the chairs and served as Exalted Ruler in ’88-‘89, ’92-’93 and ’00-01. In his local lodge he served on the Board of Trustee, President of the PER Association and served as chairman on both those committees three years. Rohnnie was Elk of the Year in ’95-96. Rohnnie also served on numerous other committees in the lodge and served as Ritual Coach for five years. Rohnnie met Sandy and was married in August 1993, and currently live in Rio Rancho. They have a total of five children, ten grand children, and five great grand children. They live from New Mexico to Washington State, to Maine to Texas. Rohnnie has also served Elkdom on the State level as Sergeant-At-Arms ’93; Elks Tiler in ’01 and was elected to the Trustees in ’05. Rohnnie has served as District and/or State Chairman on numerous State committees. Rohnnie holes certifications as a Ritual Word Judge, a Ritual Computer Judge and a Ritual Floor Judge for many years. Rohnnie was State Elk of the Year in ’06-07 and received a President’s Award in ’09. Rohnnie was selected to judge the National Ritual Contest in Orlando, Fl. in 2010. In 2002 the Honorable George B. Klein appointed Rohnnie as District Deputy of New Mexico Northeast.
