Elks Youth Activities
|
Introduction: NMEA President John Hilliard has asked us to serve as Chairmen for the Youth Activities Committee for the New Mexico Elks Association. We consider it both a challenge and a privilege to be asked to spark new enthusiasm and interest in our youth in every lodge in the state.
Our goal is to have a strong report about Youth Activities at the Spring Convention. We would love to have lots of good, quality reports from lodges across the state, filled with personal stories of activities that they have implemented to benefit youth and the community alike.
The more activities that we offer to the youth of our community, the stronger our organizations will become. Even simple activities such as movie night once a month, Easter egg hunts, and Halloween fun and games enable youth to take part in lodge activities. In addition, programs such as Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot, Youth Recognition, Scholarships, Scouting, and Dictionary Programs engage children of all ages in worthwhile community activities.
We also have the opportunity to encourage our youth by having Elroy the Elk available to all the lodges. Several lodges have already requested the costume for an upcoming event.
It is our honor to serve with each of you as Youth Activities Chairmen and be involved in helping encourage the youth of our state to participate in activities such as the ones stated above.
We look forward to working closely with you this year to infuse this program with new ideas and opportunities that will benefit both the youth of this state and our lodges. If you have any questions about the Youth Activities programs please feel free to contact your District Chairmen.
Remember ‘The Youth is Our Future’

| Would you like Elroy at your Next Event?
Elroy the Elk is the mascot for Youth Activities and Drug Awareness. New Mexico currently has three Elroy costumes, and are working on getting a fourth, one for each district. If your Lodge is interested in Elroy, contact:
